Fitrooms announces UK launch of Activio

Thanks to a new system from Activio, group cycling class participants can now monitor and view their heart rate performance in real time on a projector screen alongside the class teacher.

It works by means of a heart rate chest belt which transmits data to the screen and shows five intensity zones.

The Activio heart rate system, which originated in Sweden, can also be used to monitor any aerobic activity. It's currently being used by Scandinavia's leading fitness and health club operators and in the world of football is being employed by the Swedish national football team, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers.

Activio MD, Daniel Magnergard, said: “The Activio system ensures members always exercise at the correct level for maximum results. It is suitable for all levels, from the complete beginner to the elite athlete.

“After our successful growth in Scandinavia, we are delighted to be launching in the UK. We have a partnership with the Fitrooms gym company and this gives Activio a live show site in the centre of London. We are already receiving enormous interest.”

Basic packages for up to 20 monitors start at £10,000; anyone requiring more information should contact Fitrooms MD, Mario Pederzolli on 020 7610 1410 or at [email protected].
